CoolDrive Gives Voltaic a Bathurst Boost

11 Nov, 2020

CoolDrive Auto Parts’ Bathurst Boost promotion saw Perth’s Voltaic Auto Electrical & Air Conditioning appear on the roof of the Team CoolDrive Supercar at the Bathurst 1000.

The competition was designed to give one lucky business the opportunity to be showcased at the biggest event on the Australasian motorsport calendar, stimulating the aftermarket and workshops by providing highly sought after exposure.

Voltaic’s entry video featured the entire team explaining why they would love to win the major prize, including the office guard dog Wesley!

The company subsequently used the win extensively in their social media in the lead up to the event, which fell in the same week as their third birthday celebrations.

“It was pretty exciting, we had all of the team watching on the day, we had a catch up, so it was pretty exciting, it was good to see our logo getting around the track, there was a fair bit of anticipation to see the CoolDrive car on screen,” said Tara Halliday, Operations Officer at Voltaic.

“The competition was a really good opportunity for us.

“CoolDrive is our preferred supplier for air conditioning supplies, there is a really good range of products, and they always have availability, so they are super helpful and convenient.”

For CoolDrive Auto Parts, the opportunity to share the excitement of the event with a loyal customer was a great experience.

“Motorsport is incredibly exciting, but when you have your name on a race car, you become even more invested in the action, so to be able to share that experience with the Voltaic team at Bathurst was very rewarding for all involved,” said John Blanchard, CoolDrive Auto Parts CEO.

“It has been a tough year for everyone, everywhere, so we created our Bathurst Boost promotion as a way to give back to those companies out there that could share in the experience and exposure of being involved in The Great Race.

“The quantity and quality of the entries from right around Australia and New Zealand was outstanding – it was genuinely difficult to pick a winner.

“As expected, the event itself was massive, more than 1.5 million people tuned in via Network Ten, Fox Sports and Kayo, making the six hour long race one of the most watched sporting programs of the year.”

For the record, the Team CoolDrive entry of Macauley Jones and Tim Blanchard had a rollercoaster ride of a weekend at Mount Panorama.

Macauley qualified the squad’s ZB Holden Commodore in 17th position, just 1.0131 seconds off the benchmark time.

Problems with a faulty driver’s door necessitated an early visit to the pits during the race, from which the team ultimately rallied back to finish in 13th position, only 10 seconds behind the winning combination of Shane Van Gisbergen and Garth Tander.
